The Union is a contemporary restaurant and bar set in a beautiful 15th century building in the heart of Rye. Our menu is made up of small and large plates which we recommend sharing across the table. Our team will be on hand to guide you through your visit.

Our food is guided by the seasons and our menu is ingredient led so changes based on what we have available to us. We primarily use British produce and work with local suppliers to ensure we always source the very best ingredients we can get our hands on.

Join us Upstairs at The Union Rye on Thursday 24th April for a tasting of the wines of Clos du Gravilas, an iconic range of wines produced by Nicole and John Bojanowski in the Languedoc, Southern France. 630pm to 8pm Upstairs at The Union Rye. Ticket price is £25, which includes 4 taster glasses of wine alongside a presentation by Kevin Barbry, of Les Caves de Pyrenes, about the producer, their growing and how these styles of wine pair with food.

One of the best meals I've had out in a while. Oysters were fresh, menu was interesting and we had a delicious bottle of English wine recommended by the sommelier/waiter who understood exactly what we wanted. He and all the staff were all wonderful and I would absolutely come back. Probably the best place you're going to eat and drink in Rye/East Sussex. 100/10!

We arrived late for our booking. We were shown to an upstairs table. Maybe if we’d been on time we would have been down stairs where the ambiance would have been better. The food was good and reasonably priced. Wine however is overpriced.

Great lunch with option of tapas choices or large main course. Opted for the tapas which had good choices and the goats cheese and monkfish skewers were particularly good. Cheerful service and as a new resident I will be coming here again . Highly recommend but booking before hand is a good idea. Antoine

A nice new find for us in Rye. Good mix of dishes: the monkfish skewer was lovely, the gnochetti tasty and the side veg good. Skate was a little undercooked for liking in places but tasted good. Nice craft beer. Excellent service and nice basic no frills place but accordingly relaxed.

I love The Union! A birthday celebration, with great food, wine and service! Sadly, it was slightly marred by a very noisy table behind us. Once they had left, it was so much better! Pricey, but worth it!
