The Wine Whisperer is a wine shop and bistro located in Richmond's Short Pump neighborhood. We speak wine and are passionate about sharing your new favorite bottle or glass with you!

Our wine bar is designed to offer an immersive experience to our guests. Let our knowledgeable staff help you learn about your palate and curate a flight of wine just for you! Look for a rotating by the glass list, craft beers, more whiskey than you imagined, and an expansive food menu built for wine pairing. The intimate dining room is a perfect spot for a casual glass with friends or that special occasion date. Look for weekly wine tastings, monthly classes, and other special events that are uniquely Whisperer!

We always enjoy visiting Wine Whisperer. The team members take pains to see that we enjoy our wine and have a delicious meal. Jenna spent extra time telling us about the wine. Alex, Josh and Taylor provided exceptional service. And Amber stopped to say hello. You won’t find a better dining experience in Richmond!

This is a SUPER FUN and dynamic place to eat great food while learning more about the fascinating world of wine. Come as a complete beginner, a wine newbie. Walk in knowing nothing. No experience whatsoever is needed. The Whisperers are chill, down-to-earth people who care about you and meet you wherever you are in your wine journey. The Wine Whisperer is a “geekdom” for sure (and by that I mean it’s a place with a deep love and passion about a topic), but there is ZERO wine snobbery, so really truly, get there, get comfortable, and order some sliders or a flatbread pizza (or lamb chops or wagyu bolognese, etc., etc.), and ask for the Dealer’s Choice wine flight. (I think that’s what it’s called.) They’ll ask you a few questions, then bring you three wine tastings matched—SPECIFICALLY TO YOU. If you’re a bit farther down the wine rabbit hole, evenings like the evening my husband and I had last night are commonplace: My husband enjoyed a wine from a producer’s collection he recently read about in Wine Spectator (last week’s “Nov 30, 2024” issue with Padma Lakshmi on the cover - article was about Paul Hobbs & Viña Cobos - I know, weird that it’s a November 30th issue and we’re still in October). I focused on sparklers from a curated sparkling menu the Whisperers created in honor of International Champagne Day (holiday was October 25th, the day before we dined). Both of my wines were Pinot Noir, one from Willamette Valley, Oregon (Lundeen) and one from Tasmania, Australia (Jansz). I really enjoyed thinking about this one varietal (Pinot Noir), made in this one wine style (sparkling), but from two very different locations on the planet. Love this place.

We had a great time at The Wine Whisperer. Josh provided great service and had alot of knowledge about wine! The food was good too. We had a ton of nibbles and some entrees. Pimento cheese, hummus, and the truffle fries were great nibbles! We had the pasta and country chicken entrees. They were good, but not sure if the price of the pasta really matched the portion we got. Other than that, it was a really good experience!

Amazing dining experience! Our Wine Whisperer, Josh, was incredibly friendly, professional and talented. He picked out the perfect wines for us based on our personal taste and personality profiles!l. I was blown away by how spot-on his selections were. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was classy yet comfortable. We can’t wait to go back!
