Toro, in Boston, helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef, Ken Oringer, serves delectable Spanish tapas dishes in its contemporary and charming restaurant. The tortilla Española with a kale, egg, potato and onion omelet and the Boquerón's white anchovies in vinegar and olive oil make excellent pintxos starters. Some of Toro's most vibrant and delectable tapas plates include the chicken empanada de pollo with charred tomato salsa, the salt cod fritter croquettes de Bacalao with tempura lemon rings and the asado de huesos roasted bone marrow with oxtail marmalade. Equally inventive cocktails, such as the morning star with spicy gin, dark rum, citrus and ginger beer and the tinto de verano with red wine mixed with lemon-lime soda.

Toro's weekend brunch plates include the salchicha y huevos jalapeno maple sausage, fried eggs and crispy potatoes and along with other plates, make it a prime brunch spot.

We have 7 dishes and the churros. Duck drumettes are a must, and best broccoli I’ve ever had. Staff was helpful with wine choices.

Outstanding service. Very good food. A little pricey. Ambience is great, but a little dark and loud for some tastes. Overall tremendous place. Would highly it.

Server was friendly and helpful. Ambience nonideal - facility was nice, lot of exposed brick, but we were sat 10min after our reservation beneath an incredibly loud speaker. It was frustrating not to be able to talk to my partner on Valentine’s Day without shouting, and the collective shouts of people facing the same issue exaggerated the volume. Food was incredibly, almost comically salty. Duck was almost crystallized with salt. Judging food by edibility, I have had substantially better meals at far less expensive restaurants. The ingredients were clearly good quality and presentation was nice, but the salt was so overwhelming that it crowded out any other flavor. Even the cheesecake was too salty to finish. The other reviews are so overwhelmingly positive that I suspect this issue was limited to the Valentine’s Day prix fixe, an understandable issue given the high volume of clients that night. I write this mostly to flag that people should not expect what I presume to be Toro’s usual quality when the “tasting menu” gets whipped out on holiday evenings, as here.

Second time going to Toro, first time there was a legitimately impressive culinary experience. This time we went for Valentine’s Day with their set menu. The quality of the food is incredible, legitimately one of the best restaurants in Boston. Few personal nit picks would be the closeness of the comunal dining made it a little tight but manageable, and the drinks need a little bit more variety, most of the cocktails felt like different plays on an old fashioned, though I enjoy them I had 3 different cocktails and they were all different in flavor but similar in theme, but again, personal preference. One thing that made me laugh is I called in to let them know we were running a few minutes late (ended up being less than 10 minutes after our res time) and on the phone the guy was like “well you have the table til 7 so you’ll have to eat faster okay?” Thought that was hilarious, anyway, Toro forever.

Toro is a good place. We enjoyed the tapas and small plates very much. They were great! Giving it 4 stars because the Paella (main dish) wasn’t as good, the cocktails were okay, and the seats are way too close. It was easy to listen to other people’s conversations and you could not get out of your seat without moving the table.
