I have been to Michelin star restaurants all over the world. This is every bit their equal. Perfectly prepared food. Outstanding service. Superb wine list.

Food was tasty, but we were left… dissappointed. To start, our cocktails were short pours and one martini had a sticky stem. Next, I enjoyed the strawberry salad and my husband had the garlic soup - in the tiniest soup bowl we’ve ever seen! AND the soup pour was also short. When the manager came by to ask how our appetizers were, I complained about the miniature soup serving and explained that we have fine dined throughout the world and never before had such a small soup course. While she said she’d talk with the chef, there was no apology. We shared an entree of duck breast with luxardo cherries on a bed of lentils which was tender and tasty, however there was not a single cherry on the plate, just the sauce. We complained to our waitress since this was the main reason we ordered this dish and she brought us a few to add to the duck dish. And again no apology for the oversight. Dessert of banana cake was yummy and substantial.

We recently dined at Troquet for a special evening of milestone celebrations, and while I truly wanted to love the experience, it unfortunately fell short of expectations. To be fair, we were informed ahead of time that the restaurant would be hosting an event later that evening, so the slightly rushed pace of the meal wasn’t entirely unexpected. Still, it did make it hard to settle in and fully enjoy what was meant to be a relaxed, celebratory dinner. Several dishes missed the mark, especially given the price point. The wagyu steak, which we had high hopes for, lacked the tenderness and richness we anticipated, it came across as rather plain. The foie gras special also didn’t quite justify its cost, and the escargot had a flavor that felt off. On the other hand, the bone marrow appetizer was delicious and the standout of the evening. The salmon crudo and razor clam ceviche were okay but didn’t particularly impress, and while the duck and wagyu steak were fine, they weren’t especially memorable. The surprising star of the dinner was the roasted half chicken with crispy skin and moist meat that were perfectly executed. I also have to mention the bread roll served at the beginning of the meal as it was warm, soft, and absolutely delightful. I wish the rest of the courses had maintained that level of comfort and satisfaction. Ultimately, I left feeling a bit disappointed, especially given that we chose Troquet over three other options for such meaningful celebrations. That said, I recognize the unique circumstances of the evening, and I’m open to returning, perhaps to try their multi-course tasting menu at a more leisurely pace. For now, I would give Troquet a 3 out of 5 stars, with genuine hope that a future visit will offer the kind of experience I know they’re capable of delivering!

Fabulous neighborhood gem. Incredible wine list. The food is delicious and you will not finder friendlier or more competent staff. It’s a must visit over and over.

Fantastic Friday night dinner at Troquet on South. Truly one of the best fine dining restaurants in Boston as we enjoyed a terrific night. Chris, the owner, greeted us upon arrival and also suggested a great wine pairing when stopping by our table. The food was spectacular and the service provided by our server, Rick, was equally wonderful.

Perfect evening meeting with an old friend in a relatively quiet atmosphere, excellent service, and delicious food. Expensive, but still a good value given the quality. And as a bonus, the waiter said that the kitchen accidentally shelled some additional oysters, so he brought a half dozen to us for no charge.
