Food is average at best these days and is overpriced. Ambience and history is first rate. Service was very good.

Might be a little touristy but it was still a cool experience. Server Justice was awesome. Friendly, accommodating and efficient. Food was very good. Ambience - as long as you understand it’s a historical restaurant you’ll love it!

Good service and ambience. Disappointed that I paid almost 18 bucks for 2 scoop of plain vanilla ice cream. This was extremely disappointing and I won't be back. Have a kids menu with desserts as well because this price is beyond a rip-off.

Food decent. Small portions especially for the price. Cool building with all the history. Would go to visit but not eat.

Been to the Union many times but this time was the worst meal I have ever had in my life… poor poor poor! Ordered lobster but odd sides offered … rice!!! Carrots!!! Mash!!! Where’s the jacket potato, where’s the corn cob, where’s the coleslaw??? All pretty standard traditional sides to accompany lobster…!!! Everything bland and far too expensive for the quality of the food… Awful experience! Never again! Atmosphere was terrible too… upstairs booths not open because of Covid apparently (😳) so was seated in a side area with big overhead lights on - not relaxing at all!!! And don’t get me started on the toilets… 🤢 Such a shame for this iconic restaurant to be dragged down as it has been… sad!!!

The staff was courteous seated us promptly as soon as we arrived. The host offered to take a photo of us with a lobster. Great overall experience. Our drinks came out quickly. Our server was polite ,friendly and knowledgeable. The clam chowder was amazing. The cod was out of this world great experience dining in the oldest restaurant in the United States. Highly recommend.

Location and exterior are excellent. Bar at the entrance is also good for waiting to be seated. Lobster was big enough and very tasty.

Love the historic location. Great history and food right on Freedom Trail. Fairly priced for the city. Great Clam Chowda! Will return next time we’re in town.

Very historic venue. Seems to be all original booths etc. and you get a real feel for the old days. Chowder was excellent and food was good. Food and beverages were delivered quickly. None of the wait staff ever smiled. Our waitress never introduced herself. Employees all seemed to be doing their job - but not really caring that they were working with the public. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Probably won’t return.
