Cleverly named after the former occupant of the space, an actual upholstery store, and located on the same landmark corner as its sister establishment, Wallsé, in the West Village, Upholstery Store first opened its doors in July 2009.
A seafood-focused restaurant, Upholstery Store: Food and Wine is a speakeasy-like retreat that serves great food as well as an extensive wine list and creative craft cocktails. Upholstery Store: Food and Wine is perfect for many ocassions - a post-work gathering or late-night rendezvous, first date or 100th date. A quirky place with a quirky menu. We always discover something unexpected and unusual there. The oysters are awesome. A bit of a hidden treasure.

I went here for a birthday celebration. Reservations are a must because it is so tiny, but if you are looking for a low key but special place for a small celebration you can't go wrong.

Overall the food is good. Portions are on the small side especially for the price. I got a Tito's on the rocks and the pour was on the small size for $14.

The food was exceptional and the staff was wonderful. They were super helpful in answering all of our questions and the food was delivered in a very timely manner. We had a truly wonderful experience!

We wanted to like The Upholstery Store, really. We liked the space; the service was friendly and good. The food was middling at best. We'd go back for a glass of wine but the food needs to improve to be competitive with the many good nearby alternatives.

Great wine list and sommelier, food is creative, fresh and delicious. The Viennese secession decor is perfect, and Thonet chairs and coat rack. The staff are friendly and lovely. Also amazing value. Small dishes but filling and very satisfying. Dessert and cheese selection also are wonderful.
