We booked the 1:30 p.m. seating for Valerie’s Mother’s Day Jazz Brunch with high hopes of celebrating with my mother, a jazz enthusiast. We were warmly greeted and directed to the 28th floor, only to find out—after asking—that the live jazz was on the 27th floor and fully booked. This felt incredibly misleading and disappointing after a two-hour drive. The views and ambiance were stunning, and the only redeeming elements of this experience. We were seated at a cramped round table with awkward banquet seating right by the dining room entrance. It was uncomfortable and impractical for three people, and despite nearby tables being available, we were not offered to move. A kind hostess named Ish did her best to assist, but options were limited. For $85 per person, the food was shockingly terrible. The “bread basket” included one mini croissant, one mini chocolate croissant, one tiny muffin, and a square of cheddar biscuit—for three people. The muffin was inedible, and portions were laughable. Appetizer options were limited. I ordered the pork dumplings, which arrived cold, with congealed pork fat encased in a hard, rubbery wrapper—completely inedible. My mother and husband received underdressed salads , only palatable after we requested extra dressing. Entrées were no better—chicken and waffles arrived with visible raw flour, the salmon eggs Benedict was average, and the udon noodles were overwhelmed by soggy tempura crumbs, making the entire dish unpleasant. Dessert was a slight recovery—the blueberry cheesecake was delicious, but the fruit bowl option looked store-bought. The cocktails were excellent, and the one song we heard from the jazz singer was lovely. The staff were kind and attentive throughout, doing their best despite poor food quality and execution. Unfortunately, this event felt like a poorly marketed cash grab that took advantage of Mother’s Day diners. Would return for drinks alone. NOT the food! And definitely not worth the headache or $85 pp.

Spent a perfect Mother’s Day brunch at Valerie with my mum — the service was warm and attentive, the food absolutely divine, and the view of the city breathtaking. The live jazz set the mood beautifully. An unforgettable experience from start to finish!

The service was not great. We waited forever for our server to order food and again for other items. The crab rolls were amazing but the pork dumplings were terrible we left all and the server didn’t even comment.

Greetings Sharmane, We're truly sorry to hear that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. This is not reflective of the standards we strive to uphold. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the crab rolls, but we're disappointed the pork dumplings and overall service fell short. Your feedback has been shared with our team to help us improve. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know, and we hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a much better experience in the future. Kindly, Abby

Lovely views, nice space (tho not exceptional). Staff are friendly and attentive. Food is lacklustre and not worth the price. Many other Japanese style places with better value. The sea bass was excellent (as you’d hope for $50+). Maki and Gyoza were standard to mediocre. One goes for a special occasion … if views are main criteria, it works. Less so for the food

We had the most amazing time at Restaurant Valérie thanks to Ahmed and the incredible staff. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and genuine hospitality. Ahmed went above and beyond to make us feel special, and every member of the team was attentive, kind, and professional. The food was delicious, the ambiance perfect, and the service absolutely top-notch. It’s rare to find a place where you feel so well taken care of — Valérie is truly a gem. Thank you, Ahmed, for making our visit so memorable. We’ll definitely be back! Yasmine Nancy (from Switzerland living in Toronto)

Gravely overpriced. A 250 dollar meal couldn’t attempt to fill myself and my partner up. I can think of better ways I could have spent that money on nice, filling, fine dining.
