We are an authentic Italian wine café, proud to offer quality Sicilian wines and spuntini appetisers across the UK. In the spring of 2013 something extraordinary happened. Two Italian guys in their twenties met in Manchester to find out that they shared a unique passion; they both loved and missed, the Italian Aperitivo, the ritual of drinking, nibbling and relaxing after work. A daily occasion to share moments of happiness with friends and family. By the end of that very same year, Veeno was born: a place where everyone could enjoy great wines and the most authentic Spuntini – platters of meats, cheeses and other appetisers imported from strictly selected Italian producers. Our wines come from Caruso & Minini, our family vineyard back in Sicily where great-grandfather Antonio planted the first vines in the XIX century. Since then, we have been working hard to ensure that our quality and tradition could flow from the bottles to the glass in your hand.

A Trip to Sicily Wine Tasting

Our signature experience offers 6 wines to taste, all from the family vineyard in Marsala, Sicily. 2 whites, 1 rose, 2 reds, (70 ml each) will be accompanied by Italian meats and cheeses of the highest quality and bruschetta al pomodoro. One of our team members will give an introduction to each wine and explain which appetiser best complements each wine. To finish things off. A glass of sweet wine (25ml) will be perfectly paired with our delicious homemade tiramisu.

Clearly a popular venue early on a Saturday evening. More an Italian wine bar which includes food rather than a restaurant. Never the less the pizza and pasta dishes we had were up to expectations and tasty. We had wine at the cheaper end of the wine list (£22/bottle) which was quite acceptable. We will resist the temptation on future visits to try wine at £95 a bottle!

Initially we were sat at an uncomfortable barrel table. We did get moved though when we requested. Noticed other diners doing the same. The room we were in was very loud, although the others diners conversations were pretty amusing. Food was nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Afternoon Tea for 3 at Veeno in Chester. The staff were extremely polite and helpful and the food was delicious. Thank you! 10/10 :)

Beautiful place they had just launched a new menu that day which was delicious. They proactively told us 50% off to celebrate which was a very nice surprise

Not really a food place tbh, think it’s more a wine place with nibbles. We had a garlic flatbread and tomatoes on toast to start, was suppose to be bruschetta, then lasagne and a carbonara, lasagne was fairly burnt and tasteless, then had an overcooked choc soufflé. 45 for a bottle of gavi. But the ambience is nice.

We were sat in the Tasting Room where there were 4 tables including ours and 3 were occupied on our arrival. However, once the other guests had left (before 7.45pm) we felt that the service was rushed and overheard a staff member saying 'once these are done, close the room down'. The food was good and the staff were helpful although if we were to visit again, I would ask to be seated downstairs.

Not great I’m afraid. Ragu had virtually no meat or sauce in it, table was not that comfortable to sit at, caprese salad was bulk standard supermarket mozerella (def not “bufala”) and tomatoes with balsamic glaze over them (yuk - never known an Italian put balsamic glaze on a caprese…) and no basil or olive oil; asked for Parmesan to top pasta dishes and got a teaspoon of pre-grated stuff. Wine was fine….

This was such a surprising find I would Definitely recommend anyone to have a fun lunch or dinner, the place is an authentic Sicilian food & wine experience - it is a small cosy restaurant downstairs (with other seating available upstairs), we opted for the "TRIP TO SICILY" experience (a wine pairing with food) the staff work hard at their craft as they have to explain in great detail the wines (generous pourings) that compliment the food platter, they are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, professional & friendly and it was very relaxed at the same time my friend and I had plenty of time to have a long overdue catch-up, we had adorable Chloe who looked after us very well, while busy with other diners & climbing the steep stairs with empty plates and glasses, she is most definitely and asset to this lovely restaurant, I would have no hesitation visiting again, 10/10 !
