Vespaio Restaurant is one of the original South Congress eateries and remains one of Austin's favorite Italian go-to's among locals and visitors. This casual dinner venue is a popular choice for date nights or evenings out with friends, seating every day at 5pm. The interior of Vespaio Restaurant is decorated with ceiling tiles, ceiling plans, vintage pendant lighting, classic table seating, a plethora of wine racks and vibrant accent walls.In addition to a full bar menu, Vespaio Restaurant offers a lengthy selection of mouth-watering and flavorful authentic Italian dishes. Menu items include carpaccio, mixed seafood stew, lasagna, mussels, calamari, spaghetti carbonara, chocolate hazelnut cake, panna cotta and green pasta with shrimp.     Highly recommend Vespaio. The food was delicious, one of the better Italian meals I have had anywhere outside of Italy. The staff was great, friendly and provided outstanding service. The drinks were well crafted and tasty. It was a lively, enjoyable atmosphere on Christmas Eve. When in Austin again, we will definitely be back to eat here. You should too.

    Props to the entire Vespaio team for their effort on a busy and challenging Christmas Eve. Because my husband is a retired chef, I tend to be overly supportive and patient with restaurants, especially on a night like this. For effort alone, we’d give 5 stars. Unfortunately, Tom, our server, and the manager who briefly stopped by brought the experience down a notch. We waited 30 minutes between courses with no updates, eventually receiving bread and bean dip without explanation or apology. When the manager came over after we asked for the check, there was still no acknowledgment of the delay. The tipping point was Tom’s dismissive comment: “I thought you knew this was a multi-course meal.” As someone who’s dined in 50 countries, at hundreds of restaurants—including several in Austin—and is married to a retired chef, this felt condescending and unnecessary. Our generosity due to the holiday keeps this from being a harsher review, but better communication and empathy would have made all the difference.

    Great experience! All the food was incredible. Service was top notch. Best scallop dish I've ever had. Also, I really loved the Linus and Lucy cocktail. Only issue was the light over our table was too bright.

    It was my boyfriend’s birthday and I have never seen him so displeased, especially at his favorite restaurant. Our server forgot to fire, or send in, my main dish. After it finally arrived, we had to wait for forks to be delivered after asking our server for them, at least 10 minutes. Plus, our server forgot to ring in his Amaro Nonino and blamed it on other staff members being for it late to the table. I don’t think that he’ll ever walk back in those doors after the experience provided. Katherine was very nice in her review. Zachary talking now. Y’all had a good run as my favorite. The service was so poor that I don’t ever care to come back. My birthday dinner was lack luster because of the service. I’m in the industry and am beyond livid.

    Amy was amazing! From start to end she was very friendly and attentive. She gave great recommendations for our big table of ten and knew her stuff! The food tasted amazing and it was such a great dinner experience 10/10. I will be coming back!
