About this restaurant

Chef Cédric Vongerichten loves the picturesque streets of Nolita, which is why he chose this vibrant Manhattan neighborhood as the location for his new restaurant. Wayan offers Indonesian cuisine with a modern French flair, in a sleek space warmed by teak paneling, lush plants, and whitewashed brick. The unique and varied menu combines seasonal products and savory Southeast Asian flavors. Wayan’s showpiece bar turns out innovative cocktails highlighting ingredients inspired by the region. The cozy dining room, with its soothing tones, recessed lighting, and authentic carvings, promotes the sharing of food and conversation.

I was told by a friend of mine about her experience here. She said it was great. But last night we had the opposite. The server was just trying to go home as soon as possible. I understand restaurants have to close at some point, but the way service was handle during last call, it seemed like they were rushing us. I understand people want to go home, especially on a Sunday. But they are in the hospitality industry and the industry is about providing a nice experience. Furthermore, when we had order our food and drinks, our drinks didn’t come after we had finished our appetizers. Proceeded to ask our server where was our drink and I knew he forgot about it because it was then when he realized the drink was missing. Anyways, I think the most annoying part about everything was how poor the service was. Is definitely a good place, but I think they need to consider what industry they are working in. Especially when it’s noticeable to the guest that they are rushing everyone out of there.

The satay (especially the scallop) was delicious. The lobster noodles were great, but the portion was smaller than I expected

Visited Wayan to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Food was awesome! The satay trio and lobster noodles were delicious! Not forgetting the pandan custard. We mentioned my friend’s birthday and the team brought out an ice cream scoop with a candle for my friend which was thoughtful. The staff were quite busy as the restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night.

The worst food and service I have ever experienced. $1000 for 5 people on a fixed price menu. The food was undercooked and/or overcooked. The restaurant was freezing and empty.

The “family style” prix fixe portions for a party of two were a bit skimpier than I’d expected for such an acclaimed restaurant.

Our waitstaff were awesome. Food was so good. Been here several times already. I like to take new friends and family here. Lobster noodles and crab rice are still my faves. Thank you!

Felt rushed. They insisted on us placing the entire order at one time. Then the food came out too fast
