An intimate Michelin Guide restaurant based in the heart of Masham - the gateway to The Yorkshire Dales. Listed after just 6 months of opening and having garnered many great write ups subsequently including a rare 5/5 in the Yorkshire Post.

The menu is written weekly, a fixed 7 course set menu (+ optional extras) that constantly evolves based on the best available produce. Sourced from a network of local artisan growers and farmers the aim is to put the best of the UK to your plate with a big focus on the surrounds of North Yorkshire.

Chef Jon Atashroo trained at numerous Michelin starred restaurants in London before discovering the simply joy of cooking with fire about 10 years ago and hasn't looked back since. Focused on producing everything possible in house, it is all made in house including the tables and ceramics.

    We had a lovely meal out for a birthday celebration. The food was delicious, top quality produce cooked with attention to detail. Table service from John, really friendly explaining all courses very well and happy to answer all our questions. Would highly recommend a meal here!

    Sublime dining experience in beautiful but relaxed environment. Each course delivered something thoughtful, delicious and creative. We can’t stop thinking - and talking about it!

    First visit to Where there’s Smoke and didn’t disappoint. From the canapés to the dessert the standard of food and service was exceptional and we would hope to revisit in the near future

    What an amazing place Surrounding and venue itself is beautiful very tastefully decorated and the right amount of space between diners We arrived and were shown quickly to our table , then given snacks . These were a pre taste of the food to come and oh my god they were so tasty , the venison salami was honestly the best I’ve tasted and when we asked it was homemade on the premises . Everything we ate was so flavourful and presented on amazing crockery . I could say what dish was my favourite but I did enjoy the deserrt and I’m not a dessert fan The wine (Austrian) recommended to accompany the duck dish was just perfect We will be back it was faultless

    We went to Masham for a few days away and glad that we booked here for a birthday meal. The food was fabulous, service was excellent and the atmosphere relaxed. Just what we wanted and will definitely be back when we’re next in the area and hopefully we’ll bring some friends along as they were rather jealous. Thank you again for a lovely evening.
