William’s is a multi-award-winning seafood restaurant, fishmonger, delicatessen and caterer in the heart of Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.

A veritable Cotswolds institution for fifty years, William’s has recently benefitted from a full-scale refurbishment of both the restaurant and shop area in January 2020.

Alongside a 64-cover new restaurant sits a new fish counter displaying an outstanding range of fresh seafood, delivered daily from Scotland and the South West coastline. The adjacent delicatessen offers a large selection of chef-prepared meals, cheeses, charcuterie and terrines as well as fresh fruit and vegetables.

We are proud to have been voted one of Matthew Fort’s ‘Five Favourite Places to Shop’ and one of Rick Stein’s ‘Food Heroes’.

I recommend William's as a place to eat. My friend and I stopped at the restaurant for a light lunch prior to a nearby appointment. The staff at the restaurant were not phased by our early arrival (travel time far better than anticipated) and were very welcoming. Excellent food and good table service. My friend ordered the piri piri chilli prawns and they arrived with single use disposable lemon wipes to clean fingers. The sticky toffee pud was divine with an interesting and delicious lime twist on the caramel sauce. The liver parfait with poached rhubarb dish was in my top 3 ever starter dishes. Thank you for superb food and service.

We always look forward to our visits to Nailsworth, and always enjoy lunch at Williams. On this occasion, unfortunately, we were accompanied by my mother-in-law, who is a very difficult customer and makes dining out a joyless experience with her never-ending stream of hyper-criticism! She seems to think she is a judge on Masterchef and picks over every morsel of food on her plate, interrogating everything. She got it wrong this time, claiming her Dover sole was over-cooked, when it was clearly perfectly done. Suzanne was excellent as always, and took the plate back to the chef, who quite rightly challenged the criticism and returned the dish to my mother-in-law, who ate the whole lot. My partner and I greatly enjoyed all the food served, and thanks to Suzanne for looking after us so expertly again. Apologies for the disrepectful behaviour of one of our party! We won't bring her there again!

A real treat! So many ways to enjoy brilliant cooking with fish. It was beautfully presented and details clever, right down to the frozen grapes with the cheeses! Service was brisk, helpful and often fun. We'll be going again.
