   The food was very good especially the Fried Green tomatoes appetizer with whipped goat cheese & tomato bacon jam! I also had the fish tacos which were good with pickled cabbage on top. Service was good too. Atmosphere is fair and sitting is tight but it was ok for lunch there.

   Wren has been around for a long time in Beaufort, and generally has maintained a level of quality that justifies its longevity. This dinner was equal to most that I have had there over the years. Food was very good and portions are almost absurdly generous. Rarely have I left Wren without a box of leftovers. What was decidedly weak last night was the service. Servers were uniformly pleasant but really did a poor job. It took a long time to even get water and put in a drink order after being seated and once we did, the drinks didn't show up. Eventually a second server came by and asked if we hadn't received our drinks so shortly they showed up. Then our salads (first course) came about 10-15 minutes later. Salads are quite large and really good and we were less than 1/3 through them when still another server showed up with our entrees. She looked a little confused when we said that we had barely started our first courses and that she needed to come back later. After that things did progress more normally but our main server, a very nice 20-year old who admitted that she wasn't crazy about her situation, apologized profusely for all the screwups but then offered nothing. I will go back to Wren because I really like the place but I sure hope service has improved.

   We requested to be seated 30 minutes earlier than our reservation time and our request was accommodated. Our server was very friendly and efficient even though she said she said she was new. The ambience was delightful and our food was quite good. Overall, it was a very positive experience and we would definitely return when we’re in this area.

   Lovely dining experience. Service excellent and meal served amazingly quickly. We were visiting with friends and felt no pressure to leave. Food was delicious! Easy close street parking.

    We had appetizers to share - the shrimp and the mushroom flatbread. Both were delicious and generous servings. Atmosphere is always great!
