   We had a great afternoon but I think other Fairmont Hotel locations go above and beyond the Chateau Laurier for high tea. Other locations tell you how long the tea should steep for and give you a bit more information on the different tea (and encourage to smell the tea leaves before making a selection).

   I booked Holiday Tea for my family of four, and I was expecting a little more for the price. This was our second time experiencing tea with our children, and it was quite different. Upon arriving, I politely asked if a window table was available, and luckily there was. However, my daughter and I quickly discovered why—it was raining, and we were 'dripped' on from the windows above. It wasn't enough to move, as the view was one of the reasons why I wanted to return for a similar experience that we had years earlier. Even though our hostess was energetic and kind, she appeared nonexistent once she delivered our tea—which was fine, but I would have thought a top-up of water would have been offered at some point. They were very accommodating with my gluten allergy, providing me with my own tower of goodies. However, the items, as were the rest of my family's sandwiches, were mainly stale. I suspect they had been sitting out for some time before we arrived. Overall, the experience was fine, but for $425 (tip and valet parking included), it was hardly worth it. Save your money and go for a swanky dinner instead. For the record, I'm not typically someone who nitpicks, but I thought it best to express my experience in case others were deciding whether to attend high tea at Zoe's.

   Lovely renovated space to provide a comfortable elegant atmosphere. Attentive friendly in un-rushed service and good food made for a lovely evening.

   The holiday afternoon English tea was outstanding. 20 different tea options and three options for the food, classic, vegetarian and vegan. All had dairy-free and gluten-free options. Nicole, our server, was outstanding. Definitely recommend for a high-end experience.

   We expected and thought we had a great experience, until we received the check. We attended the all inclusive holiday tea, which has a set price. So we knew what the tea would cost: $160 for 2. When we arrived, our waitress asked us which drink we would like, ‘Mimosa,” “Champagne,” or “Sparkling wine.” My wife and I said, “Champagne”. We believed, as it was presented to us, it was included. The rest of the meal went well. At the end, when we were given the check, we were charged $90 for 2 glasses of Champaign! Nothing more to say. We were scammed into buying 2 glasses of $45/glass champagne. Needless to say, we will NEVER do this again!

    Lovely setting sitting in the solarium at Zoe’s. Our waitress was superb! Great service overall. Delicious food.
