   We did the New Years prix fixe menu and were severely disappointed! We have been here numerous times for dinner and have always been pleased but tonight was a severe disappointment. The menu was not executed well at all. For $125 per person you would expect the quality the Republic usually stands for, but again it’s Corpus so should have kept with Corpus expectations on such an occasion. Starter was a small piece of bread with steak “tartare” on it or 1 oyster on half shell and 1 shrimp with a dollop of “caviar”. They were out of the acorn bisque for the second course so spinach salad it was and the bone-in filet exterior was so tough it was like eating leather - we returned it. The pecan pie dessert was half way decent. We’ve had $125 meals before and this was so far from the standard from the Republic of Texas! If you are going to do a special evening “menu” keep with what you do daily and execute the same cause New Years Eve menu was not worthy of $125 dinner per person!!

   Overpriced and slow. The carpet was filthy and one hour to get our food. Ahí tuna tartare had not flavor . The appearance of the decoration was dated and filthy. Disappointed . I don’t recommend it.

   After being seated we waited almost 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. Finally another server asked if we had been helped and took it upon herself to help us even though she was not our assigned server. Don’t remember her name but she was fantastic and took care of us the entire dinner (the assigned server did finally come over to apologize).

   Unfocused host member made us wait 15 minutes for no reason despite having a reservation. I’ve been here 6 times in the past 3 years and the espresso machine is never working.

   We were able to enjoy a cocktail at the bar before dinner. Our drinks were excellent. We enjoyed the Chateaubriand for 2 which was cooked perfectly. The service was very good and friendly. Noise level is high due to the open floor levels, but we enjoyed all the nooks and cranies for a different vibe. There was live piano music also in the bar area.

   Sat at the bar for a bit at first. Bartenders attentive & fun! Requested Nik as our waiter & enjoyed another spectacular meal! Items included crab fondue, five-star pepper loin, & shrimp republic.
