First, I love Rey"s. Tlhis is the finest restaurant in Raleigh for a special dinner. Now, I will never go to Rey's again on a Sunday night. It's just not the same elegent experience that I like about this restaunant. Half the dining room was closed off, the wait staff was not the regulaar outstsandingl team, the food was good, bult not excellent. I will go back to Rey's when I want a fine dinner with a touch of New Orleans, but lnevr on a Sunday nlght.

The folks at Rey's are quite polite and welcoming, along with Rey himself who greets everyone in person at the tables. But the food quality was quite average given the prices of the meals. I have no issues paying good money for good food but I struggle with prices that are common at restaurants such as Del Friscos, Mastros, Ruth's Chris, etc, when the food doesn't match up to that price point. My 8 oz filet did not look like 8 ounces and was overcooked (ordered rare+ and got between MR and Medium). I did not want to be "that guy" and return it, plus worried it would be near raw if I wanted it redone (ie, the common scenario of going the opposite direction when a steak is overcooked). The seasoning was also quite bland and this was the first time ever I opted to put salt and pepper on a restaurant steak. My friend's NY strip was large and while seasoned better, it was also overcooked (ordered MR and he got between Medium and medium-well). Wife's grouper was also overcooked and dried out. Side dish was scalloped potatoes and while very cheesy and cooked properly, it was bland and we all had to add salt and pepper to it as well. The asparagus was presented down to nearly the white stalk and roots, which is quite odd knowing how stringy asparagus can be when not cut mid-stalk. I did like Rey's had a corking fee option and we enjoyed the Caymus cabernet sauvignon that we brought. We wanted to try Rey's since it's apparently a local favorite, but I don't see us going back there and will sadly have to stick with the other micro chain restaurants like Capital Grill and Ruth's Chris since Raleigh just doesn't offer steakhouse options that are common in large cities.

Food was great as always. Sat in the party area this time so it’s good to another area of the restaurant.

Great service. Food was good but the prices seemed really high (e.g. $25 for 3 tiny scallops).

Steak was delicious. Ordered by strip. Salad good. Bread awful. Onion soup good. All in all , very pretty restaurant with good but not great food. All ala carte. Should include side with steak.
