Food and service were excellent as always. Blue Soul was playing at the bar which was perfect dinner music and we also stayed for a drink at the bar after. It was a great anniversary. Thank you for the cake!

The Tavern is a great alternative to the formal Rod's dining room experience. A varied menu with many of Rod's best selections plus other great items not served in the dining room. A casual restaurant with fine food and service you would expect at Rod's.

This place still isn’t what is was when the Keller family owned it. The food is pretty good but the service is so inconsistent. The time it takes to get a bartender’s attention, and then get a bill, is unacceptably slow.

Fantastic experience. Went for lunch and it was WONDERFUL. Service was AMAZING. From being greeted upon entering and seated, to anyone who served us, it was pleasant, friendly, professional, and so attentive to us...yet gave us space and time for privacy. The food was great. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Been to many high end steak houses, this one missed. My husband ordered steak with herb butter. When has that ever been a side. The steak wasn't hot enough s putting butter on it was a waste. I had the sliced tenderloin it was overcooked. The carrot cake was amazing.

Over the hill. So many pieces missing - hiding valet, sad self-serve coat room, no somm / beverage professional, and a poorly trained serving staff. When we arrived a bit early the host was able to seat us because it was “dead upstairs” on a Friday night at 7pm. If seated upstairs, avoid tables near the stairs as the floor and table reverberates with each step. Food was a solid okay but disappointing: basic wedge, mealy and dry shrimp cocktail, steak was fine and cooked correctly, and sides were the star - especially the German potatoes.
In general it felt like cost cutting measures from the past 20 years have accumulated to a subpar experience.

Best dinner we’ve ever had in NJ! From the food all the down to the ambiance, it was incredible! We absolutely loved being seated in the old train cart; it felt so romantic! We went for Valentine’s Day and had a prix fixe menu. For the appetizers, we had the The Grille’s Signature Crab Bisque and Caprese. Entrees, we had the Chateaubriand Bouquetiere and Rod’s New York Prime Sirloin Steak. For dessert, we both chose the cheesecake. We will be back!

We came here for Valentine dinner. They had prefix menu even though when I made reservations they said they wouldn’t. But it was fine since they had good selection and it was normal price and overall food was very good. The problem we had is the seating. I reserved to be seated in one of the vintage train cars. They sit us in the last one with no people and the room was freezing. Right away I didn’t like the vibe and asked if we can be seated somewhere else to which the hostess said no since it’s valentine day and everything is reserved. So all the other people they seated in normal rooms. There were plenty of space. The temperature in our room was 64 degrees. We asked few times about the heat and they said they will put the heat up which never happened. While dining there was another unfortunate couple who got seated with us and the girl was sitting in the jacket she couldn’t even take her jacket off. The next couple who came in straight up said it’s cold and they will not be seating there and they took them somewhere else. Like you know there is an issue why try to play that game and make people uncomfortable. It was not a pleasant experience and we couldn’t wait to leave.
