   The service was very slow. We were a party of 15, but we had a 7:15 reservation and were not done until 10:30. It took 45 minutes to get our first drink and put our order in. The prefix menu was fine, many choices. The best part of the meal was desert. I ordered the Misoyaki Butterfish as I have many times. The portion was extremely small and the fish looked unappealing. The vegetables were barely cooked and I like al dente.

   We were there for NewYear’s and the back dining room was packed. Roland was our server and he was great. I chose the sea bass and it was cooked to perfection my friends chose the butter fish. The one draw back was ambiance, the lighting is too harsh and they had all the diners seated in the back of the restaurant. It was a weird feeling walking in as no one was upfront. Just a minor detail but a reason for pause on New Year’s Eve.

   Wait staff and kitchen not attentive to the gluten free needs of one of our guests.Fixed menus and prices were not a good value for the New Year’s Eve event.

   Was not aware of fixed menu, service, nor food was up to par nor worth the amount of money spent. Did not have selected bottle of wine! And was charged for it and not alternative! I would say I loved going to Roy’s, I doubt we will be back for a long time. Very disappointing!

   New Years Eve dinner. Had early reservation hoping to avoid the crowds. The dining room was partially full but is still took longer than expected for the food to arrive. Overall food quality was very good and the server was attentive.

   NYE isn't a value here. Pricey and the food were poorly prepared. My shellfish special was undercooked, and my husband's filet was overcooked. Lobster tail was very small, opaque, and consistency of a snail. The crab cake was similar in texture and appearance. Both lacked any flavor apart from the sauces. Shrimps were too small for the dish. With a total of 3, large shrimp would have been more appropriate. The appetizer was very good, as was our dessert. More on par with our past experiences here. The restaurant was freezing when we arrived at 5:15. We were told it would be a busy night, so in other words, it wasn't about our comfort. About an hour in with more people in attendance, it was notably warmer, and it was due to the a/c temp being raised. Why couldn't they do that earlier when we asked? I had a light sweater on and wished I had my packable down with me. It's hard to enjoy eating with chattering teeth.

   Our meals were excellent, including the butterfish and striped bass. The Aloha rolls were great although a lot for an appetizer-they’d be good to split. Interesting and innovative preparations and beautiful presentation. The only negative was that they charge for bread service, which seems excessive given the high priced entrees. Will definitely go back, but skip the bread.

   Always a fan of Roy's! Sat at the dessert bar, watching the well orchestrated action there as well as the main kitchen. Stella, our server, was awesome.

   Always a wonderful experience at Roy's .We have been going to Roy's for about 20 years and even with the changes over time, we call this our number one place for everyday and social occasions.
