   We have been to about 3 different Roy’s restaurants in various islands in Hawaii, all are good and the food at this one was no exception. We started off with the seared ahi sashimi in their special mustard sauce, so good! Then on to the baby Romaine with blue cheese which was cold and crisp and hit the spot. For mains we couldn’t pass up the butterfish which some might know as black cod or sable fish. Roy’s does this fish justice as a signature dish and I have never had it better. Finally we finished with splitting one of their delicious chocolate soufflé. The food was delicious, the service very good and the staff friendly. The one thing this restaurant is lacking is the atmosphere. It doesn’t feel very Hawaiian in that the decor is rather white and bland and the restaurant is all closed up not open air so you don’t get the Hawaii vibe like some other local restaurants. I think it could use a major redesign and refresh and that would really help justify the price of your dinner. Obviously that cost big money and it probably doesn’t pencil out. Roy’s has a formula for where they put these restaurants and it obviously works for them. So if you want good food and service then you can easily ignore the rest and just enjoy!

   Roy’s does not disappoint. Service was friendly and attentive. The Ahi starter is amazing. We also tried the crab cake starter-delicious. The Butter fish and mahi mahi macadamia nut crusted fish. All excellent. We will be back. One of our favorites in Waikōloa and it continues to maintain a high standard.

   Food was excellent… Be sure to get the blackened ahi or the macadamia crusted mahi-mahi. Service was wonderful, David was our server and he is knowledgeable and efficient and friendly. Roy’s never disappoints.

   We love the food here but the service is hit or miss. Actually sitting at the bar has been the best service we have received. The bussing staff however are consistently very attentive. Our waiter was in a rush, didn’t listen to us at all, didn’t even hear when we told him we were celebrating our anniversary. Overall we wished we had just sat at the bar.
