   Skulls is a regular stop of our’s when we are in Nashville. We love their dedication to showcasing jazz. Start the evening listening to Jay Vern, then hang out for whoever follows! Great food, service, and a cool atmosphere make it a must for foodies and jazz lovers!

   As a Nashville native; I often dread revisiting nostalgic places in the city. Skulls has done a good job at keeping the ambiance alive, for the most part. Anything bad taken from this review probably needs to be understood through that particular lens and your miles may vary. The good: The service was stellar. Our waitress was absolutely perfect. The host and manager did what they could to pull off a great Valentines night dining experience. The not so good: the food scene in Nashville has evolved as much or more than anything else in the city. And for the better. But that means competition is tough. We opted for the Valentine’s Day special presented to us, a 16oz filet, with two sides. This is where my fault comes in. I probably need to lower expectations when dining out, but the food left so much to be desired. I’m not writing this review to diminish Skulls or anything associated with it, because it is obviously a fine establishment and very successful and will continue to be so. But if we go back, it’ll be for the craft cocktails and the live music, not necessarily the cuisine.

   Terrific atmosphere! What a great place. The feel when you walk in is an old style speakeasy/steak house. Cocktails were wonderful. Prime rib and sides of Brussels sprout and fries amazing. Scallops with veggies and garlic mashed was terrific.
