Waiter was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and had great suggestions. Antelope, red fish and carrot cake were delicious. Had reservations and we were seated immediately upon checking in.

We went for dinner on a Saturday and knowing it would be crowded, we made a reservation. We checked in on time, but waited 10 min for a table. Instead of a prime table location, we were sat in the back and as we thought, this led to us being forgotten. We didn’t get to order for 20 minutes, no drinks until then. Our pepper shaker had been sabotaged, loosened dispenser cap, almost causing a disaster. We brought this to our waiter’s attention and he tried tightening it, realizing it was unable to be tightened/ closed, he brought a new one, but placed the other where it could be used again on a table. Our waiter was more attentive after that, but food was still very slow to roll out. When it did arrive, the plates were burning hot, the food not necessarily as warm, so maybe it was sitting for a while. The shrimp boil is one note, spicy, like a Tabasco type of hot and all components of the dish taste the same, the corn, sausage and shrimp are all coated in heat/ spice, so there’s no contrast in flavors. It would be nice if the corn was sweet for example…The house salad is also very salty. The red fish is a better entree, but still very one note in flavor. Overall, salty, needs acidity. Gotta say brunch is best at this restaurant. Dinner is hit or miss. The team looks stressed.

I feel bad giving such low scores but it’s the same menu for the last 5 years. We haven’t been in a while and were hoping for something new. It’s really good food but it’s not a restaurant that you want to go to often because it never changes or maybe you do. It was just a very limited menu. Even if it keeps the regular menu but add a chef’s special to change things up, especially since they got their Michelin star.

Best restaurant in the city! Mary was an excellent server! Loved the Sea Island Red Peas seasoning and they were great mixed with the always incredible grits.

This is the second time we ate here. The first time was amazing. My daughter couldn’t wait to celebrate her 16th birthday here. I called to try to make a reservation for a group of 9 and was curtly told there no because already a lot of large groups. I reduced the guest list to 5 which wasn’t an issue. Throughout our meal it was clear there were no large groups and a group of 9 could have been accommodated. Second, I was a bit disappointed that not a single person acknowledged the special occasion even though I mentioned it on the Open Table reservation and she was wearing a sash, but I can get over that. Ultimately, it was the food that ruined the evening. We started with the pretzel, cornbread and shrimp. The beer cheese with the pretzel was weird. It tasted like Gorgonzola or a blue cheese. Just completely unexpected and wrong. The cornbread and shrimp were fine, but nothing special. My husband got the fried chicken. It was plain and boring. My son and daughter’s friend both got steak and both mentioned they were way over salted. My daughter and I got the antelope. This was the most disappointing. We had both had an antelope dish here before that was finely prepared and served beautifully. This was NOT that dish. It was awful and I can’t believe the chef has this on the menu. My daughter described it as glorified sloppy Joe. It was shredded meat in two sauces. The sauce on the meat itself was fine but the Mole Amarillo was not good. The Red Masa “gnocchi “ were just tubes of fried corn fritters served on top of the meat. It was served in a shallow bowl that my son immediately said reminded him of our dog’s food served in a dog food bowl. He was right. Then, with the red masa gnocchi looking like fried turds on top, I didn’t know what to think. It was not appealing to look at and the taste was not good. We weren’t offered dessert and we left with my daughter saying she never wants to go back. She is right.
