Gather at the Blue Pig Tavern, our distinctive restaurant tucked in the corner of Congress Hall. Known for hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner favorites, its name derives from a gambling parlor sited in Congress Hall in the mid-1800s. Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May. Today, we offer timeless classics and new seasonal delights with ingredients that are always farm-fresh.

Very disappointing… table was loud , And very cold . Made reservation far in advance and seated in a terrible location near an open door on a cold winter day . Asked for a different table and was rudely told nothing else was available. I know it was Christmas time but will not return. The food was good and the waiter tried his best . Tea was delivered without spoons ..

Busy, but staff was mostly attentive. Holiday decorations are beautiful and food was also very good. Would definitely return.

We went for breakfast two weeks before Christmas and the restaurant was beautifully decorated. All of our breakfast meals were delicious. I would highly recommend the cinnamon rolls if they are still running the special!

We were initially sat outside the main dining room. It was very cold and nothing like the cozy dining room ambience wise. When asked if we could be moved due to the temperature, the hostesses were lacking empathy and their solution was to offer a blanket. I found this insulting as I had made reservations in advance and there were empty tables in the main dining room. Only after I went back to my table and gathered my stuff to leave, did they offer to move my family. Would never come here again in winter if I was unable to sit in main dining room with cozy fireplace and festive decor!

Nice Christmas decor, but underwhelming breakfast menu. Would not recommend for those with food allergies as waitress was not helpful with modifying food order. No options for gluten free substitutes.

I ate lunch at the Blue Pig tavern at Congress Hall this past week and it was a wonderful experience. The food was fabulous and the service excellent. Our waiter Karlo went above and beyond to assist us. We were seated by the fireplace and enjoyed the beautiful Christmas decorations. I will definitely be returning to the Blue Pig on my next trip to Cape May!!!!!!

Oh, what were we thinking when we decided to wander around Cape May on a cold and rainy December day? Rain? It was raining hippopotami. So, we dashed our plans and smartly decided to indulge ourselves in a lunch befitting the weather. The Blue Pig Tavern was a perfect choice. My wife and I were seated in a cozy spot near the blazing fire. One look at the luncheon menu and we wanted to try it all, though ultimately decided on a crab cake sandwich for her and a chicken BLT on whole grain bread for me. Hers came with a salad. I had the fries. All of it was fresh and delicious. Afterward, we just had to stay for dessert — you know, the weather and all. She had what she described as the best carrot cake ever. And I could say as much for my apple pie. It comes ala mode, though I asked them to leave off the ice cream (a nod to all the other calories that decorate our holiday fare). Our waiter, Karlo, deserves special mention. He was welcoming, helpful and attentive. What more could you ask for? We wish there were more like him. Last thing: we came here because the place we had planned to visit was booked (midday on a rainy day in the off season? I guess). Next time, this will be our first choice!
