   Our server, Victoria, was incredibly kind, patient, and fun. The food was amazing and the ambience could not have been improved upon. A perfect evening; we left full and happy. It’s safe to say we have a new favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh!

   Super busy Christmas Eve dinner. Although we waited 40 minutes past our reservation time for our table, once seated everything went well. Great service from Rebecca. Food excellent as always. Nice evening

   Visited for Christmas Eve dinner as a party of 6. IT WAS PACKED. Like I’ve never seen it. But guess what? Despite a short wait past our reservation time (15 min? 20? completely reasonable for a full house on a holiday) our experience was the same as if it was a slow night. Our servers were personable and thorough, the meal was nicely paced, and every course was served at the right temperature and with lovely presentation. Only disappointment was the tomahawk cut that my husband ordered being sold out… bummer, he was really excited for that entree and had to pivot to a ribeye. Hats off to CG for really solid execution on what has to be one of the most hectic nights of the year there. If you’re looking for a lively Christmas Eve in the city, I can’t fathom anywhere else was THIS busy and also so on pointe.

   Have been here a dozen times, and always pleased. Not so much with this visit. Upon checking in we were informed they were running 10-15 minutes behind on reservation times. Not a big deal, as the lobby was jam packed and we could clearly see they were seating everyone as quickly as possible. However, 20 minutes later the lobby was empty and we still were not seated. My husband inquired, and was told “oh, we didn’t know you checked in”, it will be 5 more minutes. We were seated, and offered water by the assistant. My sister asked for lemon with hers and was told “of course, I’ll be right back”. He never came. Instead, he and another young man cleared a dirty table, changed the table linens, etc., even though there were 3 clean tables in our room and clearly the rush had died down. By this time we had run out of butter and asked him again for the lemon and more butter. He left the room, entered again several times, but still no lemon or butter. Our server finally came to check on us and fulfilled our requests. The service here has always been impeccable, so we were certainly surprised. On the food side, I ordered a filet (medium). The top and bottom were medium (actually quite charred on the two ends) but the center was very rare. I should have sent it back, but didn’t. Our side of lobster Mac and cheese, which we order every time, was kind of watery and had a few very small shreds of lobster. Again, not what we had come to expect. It usually has a generous serving of chunk lobster meat. All in all, it was not the experience we were hoping for. I’m chalking it up as an off night and will definitely give them another try.

    The Capital Grille is mine and my husbands favorite! The ambience is cozy and comfortable. Mainly, we keep coming back for the incredible food and service!! Highly recommend the filet with the porcini-rub & balsamic glaze!! Incredible!!!
