We booked weeks ahead and arrived telling them we had our dog with us. I checked the website before going and it said dog friendly. They made us feel terrible about it. Our dog was so quiet all night. You wouldnt know it was there. The starters were great but the mains left a lot to be desired. The crab was mostly roe and it appeared to have been frozen not fresh. The vegetarian pasta was bland. The steak was nice and the hamburger was fairly average. For the whole night we felt that we had done something wrong as the service staff were dismissive and annoyed with us for bringing the dog. Would never go back.

Great setting, we were in the conservatory overlooking the river. We had roast dinners, one pork and one beef. The beef was more red (rare) than pink as initially described. My wife wished she had taken the pork option. That said the it was a good roast dinner. They had run out of our preferred dessert but our alternative was yummy. I would go back the next time we are visiting Ludworth.

Welcoming, dog-friendly, attentive staff, airy dining room overlooking the river, good food: not the cheapest, but for good reason.

Staff were lovely, our fish and chips were great, nice crushed peas. We appreciated the complimentary sparkling water. Good to know we can eat at the Charlton on a Sunday evening.

We had simple food, a starter of venison scotch egg, very tasty. For the main course I had a cheeseburger with skin on fries and my wife had fish and chips. It’s impressive how they can make mundane food taste so good. The service was good, everyone was friendly and helpful and it was a reasonable price, you pay nearly as much for fish and chips in a chippy.

We travelled down from Manchester and the journey was well worthwhile. Excellent food and excellent, friendly service. Very competitive pricing. We had lunch on this occasion. Next time we shall aim to stay overnight and have dinner instead and enjoy Ludlow itself.
