About this restaurant

  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for groups
  • Lively
The Cottage, an upscale-meets-casual eatery in Linden Square Wellesley known for dependable, fresh, SoCal inspired menu options.

We partnered with Taniya Nayak, a featured interior designer on popular Food Network programs such as ‘Restaurant Impossible’ to transform the once light-flooded, beach-like, SoCal atmosphere to a warm, lively, and New England-comfort interior. Enjoy an emphasis on natural woods, live greenery, and pops of welcomed fresh color in the new interior and brand.

The Cottage will remain the same tried-and-true neighborhood eatery with a re-defined focus on local, fresh, and honest product, for the whole family, every day. The Cottage Wellesley’s new menu is created by Culinary Director, Peter Hansen, who brings his vast experience from all over the world to Wellesley, MA. In his career, Hansen has appeared on six episodes of Iron Chef and has worked alongside incredible culinary talent such as Michael White and Bobby Flay.

The Cottage Wellesley is cherished for its "excellent service" and "delicious food," making it a favorite for gatherings. Its "lively atmosphere" and "attentive staff" create memorable dining experiences. Despite occasional noise, its brunch and varied menu, including standout fish tacos, consistently delight patrons. However, some note inconsistency in food quality.

Finally, someone who knows what French toast should taste like. The Brioche French toast is excellent. Most places serve skinny bread with little flavor and lots of butter. Not at the Cottage. And the Carmel pecan sauce is a great addition. The omelettes are well made. Nice balance of fresh ingredients. Not smothered in butter. We had 4 at Sunday brunch. Everyone loved their food, including our daughter who has the kids choc chip pancake. The meal was in pricier side for metro west, but the food is better than most. One surprise is none of the meals came with bacon. And the kids breakfasts came with only fruit (although we didn’t see that actually listed). Would have been nice to have a choice of bacon. We had Jose as our server. Friendly, available, quick to fill requests. The whole meal was a home run. Definitely recommend The Cottage for Brunch.

We have gone to The Cottage in Wellesley for years. So disappointed last nite. Dirty entrance and floors thru out Tuna nachos tasted old and stale Look like they were prepared days ago. Chicken piccata 2 small pieces of chicken and tasteless Servers walking around with buckets to clear tables. What has happened? For the price awful - go elsewhere in Wellesley Sorry Cottage but last night was the worst.

Chose to eat at The Cottage for Mothers Day. Overall experience felt rushed. Appetizers came out within 5 minutes of ordering them and the entrees were presented at the table before we had finished our appetizers. Food was good although the speed at which it came to the table made it feel like it had all been pre-prepared - I assume due to it being Mother’s Day,

As soon as we sat down they asked to take our order, we hadn’t really had time to look at the menu. The food options for brunch were very minimal. I ordered the meal that came with 3 scrambled eggs and bacon and my daughter got a kids meal with eggs, her portion size was larger than mine and hers was also missing toast. It was fair at best. For the money I probably wouldn’t come back for brunch.

We eat at The Cottage several times a year because the food, service and ambience is very good. Hopefully, they will have the patio open this season! The one drawback is the loudness. It has background music that does not at all suit dinner music no matter your age or genre of music preference. My husband and I were trying to guess each song but it’s just low enough to be annoying . Not sure the acoustics can be fixed and it doesn’t preclude us from going, just mentioning it in case noise is an issue for some.
