About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
Welcome to Freemasons at Wiswell, where fabulous food is served in an elegant and relaxed rural setting. The inn is located in the 'chocolate box' village of Wiswell, near Clitheroe, in the picturesque Ribble Valley.
Since our transformation and reopening in the summer of 2009, we have created a loyal clientele and a genuine home-from-home atmosphere. Flag stone floors, walls in muted heritage colours, antique rugs and furniture, period paintings and prints all unite to create a stylish and comfortable setting. Our bar has an excellent selection of traditional cask conditioned ales from award-winning independent breweries and is complemented by a superb cellar with over 250 wines from around the world.
While the surroundings and welcome are inviting, the main reason to visit is, of course, our food.

Loved it great place, fantastic service..food was lovely..although limited meat choice for Sunday lunch. Also be great if they did a veggie option for Sunday lunch..such as nut roast. But that said we thought food was great and the service exceptional xx will definitely go again when next in area.

Freemasons is still one of my favourite places to eat. The building is as charming as ever and the food is even better, from the canopies and bread to get you warmed up ready for a superb 3 corse meal (the bread and butter by the way is insanely good).

First time with new chef and it was a wonderful experience. The food was truly exciting, unique but harmonious and it was both light and satisfying. The ambience is fresh, clean yet cosy as it is an old pub. Service was without fault. The prices are on the high end but we were ok with it as it was an exceptional culinary evening in every aspect. Will be back for sure!

Made to feel very welcome by a lovely, friendly team. Made a fuss of the birthday girl which was much appreciated. Food delicious and the presentation was top notch!

Second visit to The Freemasons and it exceeded my expectations from our previous dining experience which was outstanding. Service efficient and friendly, especially the Maitre D’. Food from the Early Doors menu was exceptional and superb value for the quality of the food served. There was a good variety to choose from in each course and all three of us would have happily devoured any of the starters, mains or desserts. Good choice of beer and wine , plus bar staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their products! Delightful meal in an idyllic setting . Definitely worth a visit then another then another !!

We booked to stay over at Freemasons and treat ourselves to the 7 course taster menu. It was absolutely amazing and worth every penny. The rooms are to a very high standard and so comfortable. All staff are super friendly and helpful I cannot fault anything at the freemasons . An amazing experience.
