We come to The Majestic on special occasions. It’s been sometime since we last dined and the experience was disappointing. The menu changed, everything is a’ la carte, which means a’ la lot of money. I ordered $40.00 salmon dish which was floating in broth. Why? A few floating tomatoes & leeks - nothing else. Was I supposed to drink it? $14.00 side dish of asparagus. If you want bread with dinner, pay $8.00 for four dinner rolls. $12.00 Crème Brulle, that is exactly what is served- no dollop of whipped cream, no fresh berries. I had to ask for a clean water glass, something stuck on the side. Then the wine glass was sticky. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant anymore.

Used to love coming here pre-COVID, brought a friend who had never been for a “date night” before she moves out of state. This place has unfortunately deteriorated in quality and service. Requested a corner table upon booking, which was not accommodated. Half the dining room was empty, with empty tables in the corner, but instead were sat immediately next to a four-top, and felt really encroached on space. The “3 piece band” as advertised on website, and main reason I booked here, was actually just a single pianist. Server and food runner both seemed to be in training; it was fairly awkward and definitely the level of service I’d expect in a much lower quality restaurant (poor menu presentation, didn’t know the sauces etc when presenting charcuterie, pointed at the lamb chops when discussing “favorite cut of steak,” kept somehow filling our already full water glasses and repeatedly interrupted, asking if we were still eating while we literally had food in our mouths, etc). It was weird. Food was expensive and subpar. Filet, while cooked perfectly and very tender, was dry and lacked flavor. Charcuterie was nice, but nothing special. Wild mushrooms were delicious, with a nice char, although some pieces were verging on burnt. Lobster Mac & Cheese was dry and also lacked flavor (perhaps the most disappointing, didn’t even eat half of it). Overall, quite pricey as everything is served and priced ala carte. The ambience is nice, and I love the historical significance of the building itself. Unfortunately, this was a very unsatisfying dining experience and would not recommend for full service experience/dinner. However, the bar upstairs is great for cocktails.

We dined in the Jazz Club/Speak Easy area. It was great music, great food and the atmosphere you would expect. Our servers were friendly and our head server was very knowledgeable about the local area in addition to being friendly. It was fairly expensive but we expected that it was worth every cent. I honestly have not been able to say that in a long time about restaurant food but it was truly worth the price. The 3 people in my party that ordered steak were all impressed because it was cooked to perfection & melted like butter in your mouth. I had Steak tip stroganoff and I honestly think they handmade the gnocchi. If you ever want a truly special dinner this is the place. However if you want a quieter atmosphere to go along with it just ask to be seated upstairs with the piano music which is equally as entertaining.

Service was fine but the food was not good. My filet (which I ordered medium rare) came out black. Completely burnt on the top and bottom and so over done it couldn't be eaten. The sides were good but my steak was burnt. My daughter ordered salmon and said it was not good either. My husband ordered prime rib and said it was just ok. We will not be back.
