Excellent food choices, well prepared and presented. Delightful salmon nigiri starter. Warm chickpea salad could have been served at higher temperature and with a few more additional vegetables but, had excellent flavours. Chocolate parfait pudding - truly scrumptious! Service was excellent. Thanks to attentive staff who enabled a very pleasant evening.

Pleasant surroundings, disappointing meal. Salmon Nigri starter - a chewy bland lump of rice totally neutralising any flavour from the excessively thin sliver of salmon. Main course - shoulder of lamb good vegetables, nicely cooked shoulder but no herbs (rosemary), no garlic (and always best to insert some anchovies into the meat whilst cooking) so flavour a bit limited. It is not hard to make flavour rather than bland - This pub used to do high quality flavoursome meals.. its seems they have lost confidence in offering flavour.

It was a special occasion in that I was seeing my sister for the first time in 25 years. We thought that The Royal Oak at Yattendon had a good reputation but how wrong. One main course was Schnitzel which was over cooked and, as a result, as tough as old boots and impossible to cut even with a steak knife. Another, half a chicken, was overcooked and covered with burnt and blackened skin. On receiving the bill, I queried the charge of £9.60 for 2 mall glass bottles of Coke and was told it was correct. £230+ for 5 x two course lunches with minimal drinks and substandard fare is a sure fire way to lose custom.

Lovely setting for a family lunch. We had a private side alcove which was able to be shut off so it was private and quiet. Food was good with some interesting flavour combinations. Service was leisurely which gave us plenty of time for chat and catching up.

Food was good, but felt the portions were quite small for the price paid. Have had a better experience on previous visits
