The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.

    We have been coming for 35 years and it keeps getting better and better. Friendly service from the host to our server full of holiday cheer! Full house and yet we were served in very reasonable amount of time. We hope to care on the tradition for many more years

    Excellent overall experience! I have been doing this during Christmas for over 40 years! The Fairy princesses made the event even more special. Our waiter was great also!

    Christmas at the Walnut Room never disappoints! Such a fabulous atmosphere, incredibly kind staff (even though they are slammed with guests pretty much nonstop). The food is fantastic, too…and don’t skip dessert! Frango Mint cheesecake is worth every calorie!!!

    We waited over 20 minutes before a server came to take a drink order. Food came quickly but we didn’t have any silverware so we had to wait another 10 minutes before it was brought to us. Food was cold. Some of the dishes were good and some were terrible. The only positive is that we were seated right away. I do not plan on coming back.

    Beautiful room and tree! The fairies were so sweet and magical! My kids loved them! After being seated for 25 minutes without a waitress, we had to ask for one and then ask again about ten minutes later. Once she came things went well, although she was nowhere to be seen after our food arrived, didn’t ask us how our food was or come by to get us refills. Other than the waitress/lack there of one, everything else was very festive.

    We had an amazing experience at The Walnut Room. The atmosphere. Service and good were perfect. Our hostess was amazing. We will be back soon. Lobster Bisque was phenomenal!!

    The service was excellent especially for such a busy time. Courteous, friendly, smiling staff adds to the ambiance. Mrs Hering’s Chicken Pot Pie is my GOAT. Savored every bite!

    Our group of 3 thoroughly enjoyed lunch at the Walnut Room! The dining room was beautifully decorated for the holidays. Our waitress, Yolanda was the best! She was very efficient and very friendly. She even took our picture in front of the Christmas tree! Thank you Yolanda!
