The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.

    The Walnut Room is a tradition and the big tree is such a beautiful holiday sight. Food is very good. Fries were surprisingly delicious -crispy & seasoned so well. It is very noisy but it's to be expected when you have large groups, young kids and one big open space. Wish the burger had lettuce and tomatoes but the onions were good and the meat itself was yummy. The citrus cranberry chicken salad is delicious and the pot pie is creamy and the puff pastry is so fun. Our waitress Allison was attentive and very nice.

    This was our first time at The Walnut Room, and we had a great time! Jovi was an amazing server. We'll definitely be back!

    The staff was outstanding. They really helped accommodate my mom, who is in a wheelchair and made things as smooth as possible. We really appreciate it. Looking forward to next year :)

    Sven and Elizebeth were amazing. Elizbeth saw us with younger children and sat us close to the gorgeous tree. Sven was patient and very professional. Great experience. Especially for the holidays.

    The service was very poor. It took 20 minutes before server came to my table, then the server addressed me as”boss” which to me was very unprofessional. I told the server my name but he continued to call me “boss”.
