The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.

    Very outgoing server who made us very welcome. surprised that it was so accessible during holiday. Food is likely pre-prepped (it came out very fast) but for the reasonable price it was very tasty and a nice holiday tradition to continue.

    The food was somewhat cold. I just wished the food was more warm when served. In addition, the bathroom was not as clean as you would expect

    Great experience for the kids - they loved their chicken tenders. Short ribs were a little dried out and not made to order. I’d go with the cheaper food, even the burger - no one asks how you want it cooked. High prices due to ambience and experience but not the food quality.

    Lovely setting. We enjoyed the special holiday beverage choices, the menu options met everyone’s tastes, the desserts were very good…and our server Vincent was great! What a nice way to celebrate the day!

    First time at walnut room. It was lovely. Magic was not lost on our older teenage kids. We loved it. Can def see why people make this a tradition. Food was very good. Staff was lovely.
