The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.
Enjoy our Famous Mrs. Herring's Chicken Pot Pie and other well known favorites on the menu.

Walnut Room Holiday Brunch was fantastic. Of course the Christmas decorations are amazing. Service was very good. The wait staff professional and accommodating. The brunch lines were not long and food fresh. They served the typical breakfast foods with pastries and fresh fruit. All very good. There were complimentary photos with option to purchase others. I have to say photographer Ronit Bezalel did an amazing job capturing my husband and me. I expected the traditional stand in front of the tree type photo, but Ronit was much more creative. Don’t pass this up if offered. A great holiday breakfast. Cheers!

Just lackluster overall. Lukewarm food, inattentive server, couldn’t get a fairy to stop by table even after we asked our server. My girls had to flag one over. Photographer wasn’t going to give me my change, I had to ask for it. Only received one of our keepsake mugs. My girls look forward to this and it was disappointing.

We dine at the Walnut Room every year and it remains consistent and a great value. Food was superb and quick service as well, especially considering how busy it was. The tree this year was gorgeous. We always love to see how they decorate it different each year.

I ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad which was very dry. However, my daughter ordered the Asiago Crusted Chicago which was delicious. The Frango Mint Chocolate Ice Cream Pie was a wonderful favorite as well yet the portions get smaller every year. The restaurant was extremely busy so our waitress rushed off often before we could finish our requests. Overall, it wasn't the normal relaxed vibe and attentive service as in past years but still a festive favorite tradition we will continue to enjoy for years to come.

We had Chuck as our waiter. He was fabulous! Funny, bright, attentive but not at all annoying!!! The mushroom ravioli was delicious! I was disappointed that a free mug was Not included with my drink. Will definitely return!
