Though we had reservations it was still a30 to 40 minute wait time. Our server was not very good. She spilled a glass of water on our table and said she would be right back to clean it up. We were halfway thru the meal before she finally wiped it up. She totally forgot our bread and delivered it five minutes before we left. Our glasses of water and soda were left empty through out most of the meal. She said she would bring me a set of clean eating utensils but never did. She was very chatty and attentive to the tables around us (all who had rooms at the lodge as we loudly overheard their drinks being charged to their rooms). It is an experience I will never recommend to anybody and seriously doubt if we will return…… for the price totally not worth it!

We came to Traditions for our Christmas Day dinner. It was $350 for four adults and an all you can eat buffet style. The waitress was very nice but had too many tables - the drink orders, refills, bread runs, bussing tables, and questions from her area was just too much. She gave it a solid effort and kept a cheerful attitude, though. The guys helping behind the buffet were all polite and helpful, too. The food buffet was kept warm and containers were kept full. That said, it wasn't anything particularly good - especially for the price. We would consider going back if the price was half of what it was but there are much better restaurants in the same price bracket in the area.

Sadly having a late reservation was not a benefit, some of the food was cold, others tasted like it had been there too long and they ran out of some deserts. We were seated right at an entrance to the dining room, assigned seating I assume, We ordered a glass of wine and didn't realize the tip (noted service charge) was included, we still tipped our server additional as it was not her fault, she was amazing. Coffee was very weak and not overly hot. Granted t was Christmas Eve and busy, but when you offer a buffet you should prepare for each guest to be the first guest. Their signature Bread Pudding was the bomb, the cabernet delicious.

Buffet had few selections, by 7pm, the offerings looked stale, the restaurant was not decorated for Christmas. The setting looked like a diner instead of a dining room. The best part was the bread pudding.

We got reservations for Christmas Eve dinner. The staff was very accommodating about getting our group seated together (there were 7 of us and originally we had to make two reservations because the system couldn’t handle a table that size.) We were seated very unceremoniously with not much more than placing our menus on the table and then the host walking away without another word. Were we supposed to help ourselves to the buffet? Wait for our server? We decided to wait for the server who never showed up. After 5-10 minutes, we helped ourselves to water that was on a sideboard in the dining room and went to the buffet. The food was good for a buffet. Kids LOVED the Mac & Cheese. But every one of them saw the prices on the menu and that adult pricing applied for 12 year olds - all the kids thought that was ridiculous. It did not make a good impression on them which also made them feel self conscious that we paid what we did for them to eat dinner. In fact, my 17 year old told us he ate until he felt ill “trying to make sure we got our money’s worth”. The server finally showed up to get us drinks. We had to ask for bread and when she brought it, it was cold and clearly not freshly baked. If that was the standard, put it with the buffet! She cleared our plates once … then we didn’t see her until she brought the check for the drinks. After bringing the check and emphasizing she would be back to get it when we were ready, she disappeared and we had to go find her to pay our bill … all the kids had already left because we had waited so long. Being a server for a buffet is about the easiest thing to do in a restaurant … greet the table promptly, keep drinks topped off, clear plates. For the price we paid (tip mandatory and included at time of prepayment), this was a VERY sub-par experience. I expected a very nice Christmas Eve dinner and I got a “$15.95 AYCE” bargain experience. It certainly created a memory for the family but not really the memory we were trying to make.
