   We have been customers here for 8+ years and always have a consistent top tier experience. Last night was not this and we clearly have seen a change in staff and food quality. My wife’s miso cod arrived completely dry after my roll had already come out. We flagged a waiter and they took it back. Over 20 minutes later and asking staff 3x (no one ever came back to the table), we had her cod delivered long after I had finished my roll. So we both got to watch each other eat a meal alone while together on Valentine’s weekend. No offer of a glass of wine, etc. Manager was shocked when we said we did not want to pay for the Cod. Very poor experience.

   Khoi was our server and he was absolutely perfect!! Great personality and was super attentive. I honestly can’t wait for our next visit. The food was yummy like always. Perfect date night!!!

   Every time we come to Atlanta, we have to come to Umi. The food is and service are always fabulous. We celebrated our daughter's 21st birthday here and they made it so special. We brought someone who had never had the privilege of eating here, and he said he has now been ruined for all other sushi! It was exceptionally busy and loud, which is my only complaint, but will never stop us from coming back. There is no beating the wagyu beef nigiri, or the lobster toban-yaki!

From the moment we were seated, everything felt seamless, from drink refills to perfectly timed dish arrivals. As for the food, every bite reflected freshness and precision. The sushi was expertly crafted, with high-quality fish that practically melted in your mouth. Signature rolls offered a creative twist without overpowering the delicate flavors of the ingredients. The hot dishes were equally impressive, with standout items like the miso-glazed black cod and tempura that was light and crisp. Pricing is on par with similar high-end sushi spots, making it a great value given the quality of food and overall experience. Umi proves that you don’t have to compromise when it comes to great sushi, excellent service, and a welcoming ambiance. Highly recommended!

    The food was good but the overall experience was significantly lacking. The sushi was fresh but not spectacular or unique. No unique dishes are on the menu, as you would expect with a higher-end restaurant. The atmosphere was poorly managed. Lighting was too dark, then too bright - being adjusted in real-time. The noise level was unacceptable. Service was inconsistent - with various servers approaching us at different times - without continuity. The front of house hosts were more interested in their personal conversation vs. accommodating guests. For the price, this restaurant is sub-par. Umi is a location designed for those trying to impress with little understanding of what truly impressive Japanese cuisine means. Highly recommend finding alternatives.
