A little more than a stone’s throw from its original digs in Encinitas, Union Kitchen & Tap ignites the Gaslamp with our second neighborhood-friendly dining and drinking destination. Union Kitchen & Tap boasts impressive surroundings of reclaimed wood and modern furnishings bringing their Americana concept to life, along with garage-style doors that open up to a generous patio, connecting Union’s bustling indoor vibe with refreshing outdoor spaces.

On Padre home games and other special event days your table will be reserved for 1 hr. 30 min. for parties up to four. 1 hr. 45 min. for parties up to six and 2 hrs. for parties of seven or more.

We arrived on time for our reservation (11:30am). It took 10 min to be acknowledged by our server and 38 min from the time we ordered to when we got our food. Our waiter didn’t check on us once during that 38min. We had to get up and go ask someone to make sure our order was even submitted.

The best word to describe this restaurant is adequate. Bartender doesn’t give a crap, server was friendly, food was OK.

Our server was awesome! When we got there, we were a little bit early and the girl told us he had a 17 top that he had to take care of also and we said that’s fine. Will be patient. It’s like he wasn’t even gone, he took care of us, and everything went perfectly!

I've been coming here on Thursdays for Trivia a few times. The Trivia has always been fun. Last time I had the steak and root vegetables.The steak was really outstanding and for $41 is a really good value for filet mignon. The root vegetables were somewhat tasty but they come prepared with harissa which, I'm sorry to say, is too spicy for my wimpy spice tolerance. I also tried a few bites of peanut butter pie-yum. On a previous visit I enjoyed the grits with gravy. I think next time I will try the burger because it always looks great when other people get it.

Padres game day on a Monday. Very quiet , no happy hour as expected, but out of game day Pacifico beer special they have posted all over the restaurant. Ordered another light beer out of that too. Selection of premium beers small. Had appetizers which were very good but pricey. Left to find a place with better vibe for main course.
