The name WOODWORK pays homage to the intersection of our passions for wood-fired cooking and barrel-aged spirits.

The Woodwork kitchen is centred around our custom Grillworks wood-fired grill; while our bar features one of Alberta's most extensive collections of spirits, award-winning cocktails, and a curated list of our favourite wines to pair with grilled cuisine.

An Edmonton institution since 2013, Woodwork is located downtown in the historic McLeod Building at 100 Street & Rice Howard Way.

Discover the delightful Woodwork, where "probably one of the best places in the city to eat" comes to life. Enjoy "wonderful craft cocktails" and "amazing, friendly service" in a cozy atmosphere. While some find the food portions small, the "brussels sprouts are a must try," and the ambience is inviting.

Service was outstandiing, food very good. It’s a loud place and tables are fairly close so not a place for quiet conversations. We moved from a table and sat at the bar so we could talk quietly. The chefs use the wood-fired oven skillfully. Highly recommend the olives and Brussels sprouts.

This restaurant was swealteringly hot on the night I went. It was around zero degrees Celcius outside (not summer), so I don't understand why it was unhearably hot inside. A woman across from me was fanning herself throughout her meal using the supplied menus. What about the food, you ask? It was mediocre. Ordered small plates and appetizers, so I can't comment on the wood-fired items. The Brassica Salad was probably the best dish of the night. The kale had a very earthy flavor. Bit disaapointed it was a sweet instead of a savory salad dressing. Sausages were okay, same with the sourdough bread and olives. Our waiter was absent most of the evening, didn't make any suggestions regarding drinks or food pairings and vanished to get the bill as soon as I said I didn't want another drink. My dining partner did want one. He didn't seem into his job that evening. Cocktails were decent and the list is quite extensive. Very limited wine selection unless you order a bottle, not much beer, so stick with cocktails. That seems to be their forte. We may be back to try some of the wood grilled items, probably what we should have ordered.

Server was solid! Was his second day and did well to make us enjoy our experience. The steak sandwiches were somewhat cold and tasted a little odd.

Overall service was great and very attentive to the table. Food and drinks were coming in a timely manner. Cocktails were creative, some great some not so much. Biggest let down was the cut of the day which was a 65oz tomahawk that we ordered to share for the tablr. After over 60 mins to prepare, unfortunately came out overcooked despite restaurant recommendation to have it medium rare. It was closer to well done, very little pink inside and was more like a roast beef than a tomahawk by that poiny. Kinda sucks given how long it took to make and how expensive the cut it is. My recommendation would be to stick to the small plates, not everyone knows how to properly cook such a thick cut.
