Founded in 2013 by Davin and Jessica Waite, Wrench & Rodent is a space for culinary exploration and collaboration. This cozy, eclectic restaurant quickly became a destination for those who appreciated Chef Davin’s creative approach to celebrating local and responsibly sourced fish and produce.

In addition to a set sushi menu, Wrench offers an omakase as well as a list of specials that change daily. The team is committed to reducing waste and enhancing flavor by elevating all cuts of fish and veggies, as well as featuring a diverse range of species. Many menu items are simple, fresh and creative, with a lesser-known fish species complimented by ingredients from the backyard garden. Byproduct utilization drives the menu as well, and recent explorations with aging techniques have led to a dry aged fish program. Plant-forward preparations are also celebrated, and a vegan omakase is available upon request.

From the OpenTable editors: A pub isn’t an obvious backdrop for sushi, but culinary power couple Jessica and Davin Waite make a passionate case. Their punk-rock Oceanside spot is serious about a zero-waste philosophy—almost every fish part is used in their rolls, including the Green Lantern, an avocado and crab version topped with salmon and arugula chimichurri.

Delicious food. Service was good, although we had to wait outside for at least 5 mins. and that was with a reservation. The restrooms could have used a little attention and the music was very loud. I’m glad I tried it, but not sure if I would return.

Always a great dining experience. Almost every W&R meal will contain an ingredient I've never eaten. I love the delicious challenge!

Obsessed with this place. I was looking for amazing food in a casual environment. The fish was so freshhhhh! The dishes were innovative, the flavors will wow you, and the uni was massive. 10/5 highly recommend.

We celebrated a special birthday (60 years young) and this was the perfect restaurant for a memorable family dinner!!! Our server Shayla was wonderful and the food and ambiance were without compare. We only wish we lived closer so that we could dine there more often. We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for any occasion!!!

Omakase was wonderfully unique experience; the fish selections were not the standard/usual. A worthy adventure for the aficionados. Server was very knowledgeable and made dining experience so pleasant. Saki is must have also.

The food & experience were mid. The "mule" was pretty off & not tasty. I won't be returning. We went to Nobu after.
